US reaffirms reinforced cooperation with Angola

The United States of America plans to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Angola, reaffirmed Nina Maria Fite, the new American ambassador, recently appointed by President Donald Trump, to replace Helen La Lime, who has been in office since 2014.

The new US ambassador to Angola said that the US government is following with interest the transparency measures being implemented by President João Lourenço, according to a note from the Angolan embassy in the United States.

According to the document to which ANGOP had access, the measures will contribute to attracting more investment from the US private sector to Angola. "It is everyone's desire to see the Angolan economy grow and the US is ready to help," said the new ambassador, quoted in the statement.

As part of her mission to Angola, the diplomat was received on Monday in Washington by the Angolan ambassador to the United States.
During the meeting, Nina Maria Fite expressed her rejoicing in serving her country in the Republic of Angola, and could contribute to the improvement of good relations between the two states.

Nina Maria Fite has held previous positions in Angola, where she held the position of head of the political / economic section at the US embassy.
The diplomat has held the position of US Consul in Montreal in Canada since 2014, having previously worked on seven US diplomatic missions abroad, including Portugal.
