Angola wins nine medals at Germany's international fair
The Angolan delegation that displayed its inventions in the 69th edition of the Germany’s International Trade Fair Ideas (IENA) of Nuremberg, won nine medals on Sunday.
Angola’s ideas, inventions and products showcased in the competition were 70-percent mechatronic devices, and the other 30 percent comprised chemistry, social and human sciences items, which earned the country a gold medal, five silver and three bronze.
Four medals were won by freelancers, the golden medal was awarded to the “Public lighting failure detecting system” project, two silver medals were awarded to MwonoWaha projects , which “improves health services through information systems” and the “civilians disarming system”.
Miguel Matos, a computing sciences student, won a silver medal with the project “inclusion of people with disabilities”, while the centre of public policies and local governance of the Agostinho Neto University received the bronze medal.
Angola displayed nine projects from three higher education institutions of the country, such as Agostinho Neto University (UAN), Methodist University of Angola (UMA) and Higher Education Polytechnic Institute of Technology and Sciences (ISPTEC).
The Republic of Angola has been attending the annual IENA since 2009, through the Ministry of Sciences and Technologies.
