Angola to host 43rd SADC Parliamentary Forum
Angola will host in June 2018 the 43rd Plenary Assembly Session of the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC-PF), ANGOP has learnt.
The Windhoek meeting, held from 25 November to 02 December this year, approved the holding of the 43rd SADC-PF in Angola, besides other decisions and recommendations.
The SADC parliamentarians also decided to keep facing the challenge of transforming the Parliamentary Forum into a Regional Parliament by the year 2018.
In the 42nd SADC-PF session, Angola delivered a communication on the last August 23 elections, won by the MPLA party and its presidential candidate, João Lourenço.
The Angolan delegation to the event was led by the Speaker of the National Assembly (Angolan Parliament), Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, who presided over the meeting in his capacity as the current Chairman of the Parliamentary Forum.
The delegation also included the ruling MPLA parliamentarian Luisa Damião and opposition UNITA’s MP Lukamba Gato.
The 42nd Session of the Parliamentary Forum of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) discussed topics like reproductive and sexual health, empowering women, and human trafficking.
The SADC Parliamentary Forum was instituted in 1997.
